Pancake Breakfast

Saturday pancake breakfast at Farmington Church of Christ benefits local school

Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast and help the Farmington Elementary School Family Resource Center at the same time. The Farmington Church of Christ will host the benefit breakfast in its fellowship hall, starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.

Angela Mosley


Farmington Elementary students and teachers sang along as Angela Mosley played the piano. Mosley, who is blind, was raised on the outer banks of North Carolina. She then moved to Paris, TN, and enrolled in the Nashville School of the Blind. After that, she went to Murray State University where she graduated cum laude with a degree in Music and minor in Spanish. Mosley brought the message that no matter what type of disability a person has, he or she can still set goals and reach them.

Graves County Truck Pullers Donate $28,500



GRAVES TRUCK PULLERS DONATE $28,500 – The Graves County Truck Pullers Association recently presented checks to Mayfield and Graves County schools’ family resource and youth service centers for some $28,500. The association raised more than $60,000 in the event’s first three years in addition to the amount raised this past August, the event’s fourth year. Proceeds from it will help provide Christmas gifts for underprivileged children. Fall on the Farm-2nd Grade


On Friday, September 23rd, Mrs. Missy Jones' and Mrs. Ballard's 2nd grade classes from Farmington Elementary enjoyed a visit to Fall on the Farm in Murray, KY. Students experienced many exhibits that were both informational and fun.

Farmington Elementary students were rewarded for a successful PTO fundraiser by a visit from nationally known magician Rick Smith Jr. Smith holds a Guiness World Record for throwing a playing card 216 ft. 4 in. at a speed of 92 MPH. Third grader MaKenzie Mason helped Smith put a straight jacket on juggling phenomenon Billy Matsumoto. Matsumoto was able to get out of the straight jacket with no help. Farmington friends will be featured on the pair's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Rick-Smith-Jr.

Farmington Elementary kindergarteners received a visit from "Johnny Appleseed" (aka Doug Moore). Moore told a story and read a book to each of the three kindergarten classrooms. He explained how apple cider is made, then gave each friend an apple and the chance to try apple cider. After eating the apples, the classes went outside to plant apple seeds that they found in their apples. Community Helpers



Captain Jeremy Prince with the Graves County Sheriff's Office visited Amy Cheek's preschool class at Farmington Elementary as part of a unit on Community Helpers. Captain Prince brought his K-9, Kilo, to visit with the class. Prince talked about what he and Kilo do to help keep the community safe. The friends enjoyed watching Kilo open the car door by himself and getting to pet him. The activity helped the students understand that law enforcement officers are friends of the community, and they do not need to be afraid of them.

Kindness and Compassion Club


The Farmington Elementary School Kindness and Compassion Club members will continue to make an effort every month to “Be the Ripple that Creates a Wave of Kindness” by conducting a special act of kindness in the community. For September they decided to help the furry friends in the community by collecting supplies for the Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter. They collected kitten and puppy food, toys, collars, leashes, flea control, flea soap, paper towels, dryer sheets, and laundry detergent. Attendance Battle
